Summary


Bunting and good baserunning - two tactics that served the Richmond High School softball team so well during the regular season - proved to be the difference Saturday in the Class D state championship game. Without the benefit of a hit, the Bobcats manufactured the winning run in the top of the ninth inning to beat Ashland 4-3 and win their first state title since 1995.

"That's what we've done all year," Richmond Coach Rick Coughlin said. "We don't give up a lot of runs, but we don't score a lot either."
