The detective who was driving too fast for road conditions last week when he and the governor were injured in a rollover should not receive a traffic ticket, nor would other motorists in the same situation, say authorities.
An accident reconstructionist estimated that Detective James Trask was driving between 55 and 65 mph Feb. 4 on Interstate 295 in Bowdoinham when he hit a patch of ice, hit another vehicle and went off the road. While the interstate speed limit was 65 mph, the recommended speed for motorists was 45 mph because of poor road conditions.See the full content of this document
