Maine recorded no job growth between 2004 and last year, the Maine Center for Economic Policy reported in its annual analysis of the state economy.

In "The State of Working Maine 2006," the center said the lack of job growth last year was a sharp slowdown from the growth of 14.3 percent recorded in the state from 2000 through 2005. The report noted that the state recorded increases in the number of jobs available in education and health services during the first half of the decade but lost employment in manufacturing and construction.
