In the at-large race, the candidates are Loretta Griffin, a political newcomer and widow of former Councilor John Griffin; Carol Schiller, a neighborhood activist; and Edward Suslovic, a former state representative.

Seven in Running for Three Seats On Portland Council ; the City has Four at-Large Councilors and Five District Councilors. All Serve Three-Year Terms.

They are vying for a seat held by Peter O'Donnell, who isn't seeking re-election. Portland's municipal races are nonpartisan. Still, Green Independents are backing Schiller and Democrats are split between Suslovic and Griffin.

In other races, Stephen Lovejoy is challenging longtime District 4 Councilor Cheryl Leeman and Alvin Schulman is challenging one- term District 5 Councilor James Cohen.
