A lawyer asked Maine's highest court on Tuesday to overturn the conviction of a Freeport man who was found guilty of kidnapping and rape even though his victim later recanted.

Mary Davis told the Maine Supreme Judicial Court that her client, Thomas "Chris" Rega, was wrongfully convicted because the jury in his case heard part of a tape-recorded police interview with the victim on July 28, 2002, in which she described being forced to perform oral sex at knifepoint.
