Stanley E. Sproul, whose political career included time as a Maine legislator and mayor of Augusta, has given up his right to practice law after 57 years as a member of the Maine Bar . Sproul, 85, who practiced full-time only for the past dozen years, resigned after missing a court date, according to a former partner.
