Portland officials are chalking up a mishandled West End street project as a $25,000 lesson learned.

Last fall, the city realigned a five-way intersection at Neal, Clifford and Bowdoin streets to address some neighbors' long- standing concerns about traffic safety. Soon, public works crews may be asked to tear up new sod, curbing and drainage pipes because other neighbors and the Historic Preservation Board don't like the change.
