A proposed reorganization at the University of Southern Maine that would combine several colleges could save an estimated $1.2 million by eliminating three dean positions, along with various staff positions, interim Provost Mark Lapping told the Faculty Senate on Friday.

In a serious but collegial meeting, the Faculty Senate was briefed on a five-point proposal made by Interim President Joseph Wood last week.
