Nance Trueworthy was sitting at her kitchen table eating dinner a couple years ago when her ever-present photographer's reflexes kicked in. "I always keep my eye on the sky," she said. "It's so ingrained . . . I'm always unconsciously doing it." She noticed the rain had stopped and the sun was coming out, so she leapt up from the table and ran to her car. "I drove like mad to Spring Point Light and I saw the double rainbow . . . Rainbows are special. It's such a treat when I get to see them."

She captured the rainbow on film in a stunning photograph taken from the base of the lighthouse's long breakwater, showing the lighthouse and the glorious arch of color over Casco Bay. That photo is featured in the veteran photographer's new book, "A Seat on the Shore: Quietly Admiring the Maine Coast."
