Moody's Collision Uses Big Innings for Sweep

Summary


Mark Schmidt hit a three-run triple in the opener and was the winning pitcher in the second game as Moody's Collision swept an American Legion baseball doubleheader from Libby-Mitchell Post on Saturday. Schmidt's triple highlighted a five-run fifth inning that helped Moody's (12-8) to an 8-3 first-game win. Tim Atwood and Craig Woodbrey each had RBI singles during the rally. Reliever Ryan Burnheimer (2-1) allowed four hits and struck out four in the final 2 1/3 innings.

Schmidt held Libby-Mitchell (5-14) to five hits and struck out seven in the first five innings as Moody's won the second game, 7- 2. Woodbrey hit a two-run single as Moody's scored six runs in the first inning.
