Ben McCrillis has wrestled all over the country since graduating from college in 2000, winning titles and medals on a regular basis. But it wasn't until he appeared earlier this month in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd section that people started to take notice. "It's kind of surprising," said McCrillis, a Westbrook High School graduate. "I've never gotten any recognition before and I've been in a lot of competitions and done well."

McCrillis, 30, won two titles at the U.S. national wrestling championships in Las Vegas last spring. Competing in the 214-pound class in the veterans division (ages 25 to 35), he won gold medals in Greco-Roman and freestyle, going 7-0 with four pins.
