Among 18 merger plans that will be considered, five in southern Maine would create "regional school units" for Falmouth, Cumberland and North Yarmouth; Freeport, Durham and Pownal; Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel; Saco, Dayton and Old Orchard Beach; and Windham and Raymond.
