What do you consider the top local news story of the year? Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram editors are asking readers to rank the top Maine stories of 2006. Some suggestions are listed below. Please mark your first choice with the numeral 1, your second with the numeral 2, and so on through the 10th most important news story. There's room at the bottom to write in stories not listed. Ballots can be mailed to Top Story Poll, Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram, P.O. Box 1460, Portland, ME 04104. Ballots can also be dropped off at our Welcome Center in the newspaper's lobby at 390 Congress St. in Portland. Readers may also vote online at MaineToday.com. All submissions must be received by Dec. 26. The results will run in the Insight section of the Maine Sunday Telegram on Dec. 31.
