Summary
The annual Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland's Harbor Park begins on Wednesday with the arrival of King Neptune and the coronation of the 2005 Maine Sea Goddess. Thursday is the day things really get going, with country music artist Jo Dee Messina headlining the evening's musical entertainment. On Friday, there'll be a children's costume parade, a seafood cooking contest and comedian Don Rickles. Saturday begins with a pancake breakfast and a parade on Main Street. There'll also be a rowboat race in which the rowers are blindfolded. Beausoleil headlines the concert stage that night. Sunday's the day for contests. There's a 10K road race and a one-mile fun run for the kids, plus a lobster crate race, codfish carry, a lobster eating contest and a diaper derby.
The USS Wasp, an amphibious assault Navy ship resembling an aircraft carrier, will be in Rockland harbor during the festival. Festival-goers can tour the ship from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.See the full content of this document
