An 86-year-old man who wrote a suicide note saying that he had cancer apparently shot his 98-year-old wife in the head and killed himself. Investigators believe that the shooting deaths Tuesday of Ronald and Hazel Templeman were a murder-suicide, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Hazel Templeman became Maine's oldest homicide victim since police began keeping records 35 years ago.
