The Maryland research lab that is facing criticism in Maine over a suspended brain-procurement program is halting its efforts to collect brains elsewhere in the country, its lawyer said Wednesday.

Lori Keenan, a lawyer at the Stanley Medical Research Institute, said the lab will stop acquiring brains after its contract with the San Diego County medical examiner's office is terminated on June 30.
