A New Portland man scheduled to make his first court appearance today in the 2007 killing of Louise Brochu said Thursday that he did not kill his 50-year-old former employer.
"I knew her well; she was a great woman, she really was," Jeffrey A. LaGasse, 31, said in a telephone interview from the Somerset County Jail in East Madison.
