By definition, nonprofit organizations aren't supposed to reap financial benefits for themselves. However, some charities may be allowing their executives to profit by paying them excessive salary and benefit packages.

Now the Internal Revenue Service is looking into such abuses - and rightly so. Nonprofit organizations receive tax exemptions, but they are not exempt from the law.
