The agency charged with enforcing Maine anti-discrimination laws wants more public input before it issues guidelines for preventing discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students and staff in schools.
Members of the Maine Human Rights Commission on Monday voted 4-1 to hold a public hearing before they complete work on a document that, in draft form, advises schools to provide transgender students access to facilities for the gender they identify with rather than their biological gender.See the full content of this document
