Dr. Mary Jo Wakeman lived in Sanford for less than four years, but she had a healthy impact on the community before a car crash claimed her life Tuesday afternoon.

"She had a big-picture view of health," said Darlene Stromstad, president and chief executive officer of Goodall Hospital, where Wakeman was medical director of occupational health. "It sounds so trite, but she brought energy and joy to everything she did."
