His facility with English is not great, but William Chebon Chebor of Kenya is very clear when he talks about the biggest strategical challenge in the TD Banknorth Beach to Beacon 10K road race. "The course, you cannot see the finish line," he said, referring to the final twisting 800 meters within the gates of Fort Williams Park. "You climb, bend, then finish."

Among this year's field of elite runners, nobody has climbed, bent and finished quite like Gilbert Okari and Susan Chepkemei, each of whom is undefeated in this annual 6.2-mile journey from Crescent Beach to the Portland Head Light.
