York County officials have worked out the final details on a $18.7 million county budget, putting to rest a severe budget crisis that required strict belt-tightening at county departments across the board. The cuts, which have freed up more than a half-million dollars, included an array of sometimes painful adjustments.

"We got there with a lot of hard work from everybody," said Richard Dutremble, chairman of the York County Commissioners, noting that ultimately no layoffs were necessary. "It's taken a lot of sweat. It's taken a lot of sacrifices."
