Five-year-old Noor Abd Al-Hady Hassan will leave Maine today with a heart that will be able to sustain her for a full lifetime.

The Iraqi girl arrived in Portland a little more than a month ago with holes in her heart that would have cut her life short. Thanks to the efforts of Utah National Guard members stationed near her home in Nasiriyah, doctors here were able to correct the defect.
