Although it has appeared for quite a few years that there was little interest in Augusta for significant improvements to legislative ethical standards, that situation finally may be changing.

Both Senate President Beth Edmonds, D-Freeport, and House Speaker Glenn Cummings, D-Portland, have sponsored bills that would make major changes in the ways legislators are held responsible to the voters. Those bills, the object of "study" for far too long, at last have seen daylight.
