State and local fire officials are investigating the cause of a two-acre fire Tuesday that burned down a barn and heavily damaged a nearby house and shed.

The fire was spotted by volunteer fire tower watchers at Ossipee Hill and called in at 10:42 a.m. About a dozen southern Maine fire departments responded to the call at 745 Wire Road.
