The latest fanning of the TABOR flames came earlier this week, when the Question 1 debate was hit with an "October surprise." A coalition of three heavy-hitting lobby groups - the Maine Education Association, the Maine Municipal Association and the state Chamber of Commerce - roiled the election-season waters with an 11th-hour TABOR alternative.
