Crossing America, Never Leaving School Gymnasium

Summary


Fifth-graders at Wells Junior High have been logging miles walking in the gymnasium to see if they can walk enough miles to hike across America.

Students in Rachel Kilbride's homeroom walk for half an hour each day. Using math and pedometers, they calculate how many miles they walk each day. Back in the classroom, they chart the miles on a map to see how far they have walked.
