Robert Moody has enough experience to know that he had better not put on airs when he takes the podium to lead the Portland Symphony Pops in a program of movie music next weekend at Merrill Auditorium.

"As the person on the podium, you need to be yourself," said Moody, guest conductor and candidate for the job of conductor and music director of the PSO. "The moment a young conductor tries to put on airs of a great, aged maestro is the moment they will just kill him. The switch will turn off instantly."
