Summary


Rarely is there a happy face on a person pumping gas at a station. Lots of sighs and mean-spirited grunts is all I've witnessed. Watching dollars being clicked away to barely fill a vehicle tank is too often a painful experience. Not having enough money left to buy a candy bar, sandwich or newspaper makes the experience all the worse.

In an apparent response to consumer despair, President Bush rescinded a moratorium on offshore drilling, established by George H.W. Bush and extended by President Clinton, in response to the destructive Exxon Valdez oil spill. Apparently, jeopardizing environmental and wildlife reserves is acceptable in an effort to appease a public crippled by soaring gas prices.
