For 45 years, Ruth Martha Clark Chaplin could be found in the Steep Falls Memorial Library, introducing generations of children to the treasures found only in books.

And for two more decades after she retired in 1981, Mrs. Chaplin was still in the old library almost every day it was open, watering the plants, tending to the magazines and helping people research their genealogies.
