Biddeford's decision to shut down carnival rides at the annual La Kermesse festival has organizers of Bath Heritage Days promising to make sure Smokey's Greater Shows properly installs those same amusements at their festival this weekend.

Richard Verrier, Biddeford's electrical inspector, said he closed down the rides last weekend because of problems such as exposed wiring and electrical receptacles exposed to the rain. He said he warned the operator about some of the problems a year ago.
