Tom Gruber pitched a two-hit shutout Thursday to lead cape Elizabeth to a 3-0 victory against Falmouth in a Western Maine Conference baseball game. Gruber, who didn't walk a batter and struck out two, pitched out of a two-on, no-out jam in the fifth inning with help from third baseman Drake Livada, who grabbed a liner and doubled up a runner at second.

Taylor White and Mike Kertes each had two hits for the Capers (2- 0) against the Yachtsmen (0-1).
