Property taxes recently came due in Buxton for the first time since the town completed a reassessment that saw the valuation of land rise 90 percent from what it was four years ago.

The value of buildings increased far less, rising 20 percent. Although the town's property tax rate dropped along with the rise in valuation, many residents, especially those who own large pieces of land, saw significant increases in their tax bills.
