Ryan Gay, a junior at Gardiner High, made nine birdies and only two bogeys in 27 holes of match play Thursday to win two matches impressively and take the Maine Junior Golf Championship at Val Halla Golf Course.

Gay, 16, beat two strong players, David Gushee of Gorham in the semifinals, and then Will Delano of Kittery in the final to claim the title he's been after the past two years.
