As the clock wound down and the rest of her York High teammates rushed onto the field to celebrate a championship, Anna-Claire Pierce turned to her coach and gave Barb Marois a hug and wouldn't let go.

The Wildcats won their first Class B field hockey state title Saturday afternoon, beating Nokomis 1-0 at the Weatherbee Sports Complex at Hampden Academy, and Pierce knew what it meant to Marois.
