For five minutes, underdog Alvernia College made it a game against second-ranked Bowdoin College in the NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament. Thirty-five minutes later, the Polar Bears were making plans for the next round after easily eliminating Alvernia 69-46 before 1,530 at Morrell Gymnasium on Saturday night. It was Bowdoin's 55th straight home win and ended Alvernia's 14- game winning streak.
Bowdoin (25-2) advanced to the round of 16 and will play on Friday against William Smith College, a 68-58 winner over Oswego State.See the full content of this document
