Three boaters, stranded overnight on a tiny island in Casco Bay after getting lost in dense fog, paddled to safety Monday morning, wet and cold but otherwise OK.

The three had set out from Jewell Island around 6 p.m. Sunday, paddling special outrigger canoes toward the outermost tip of Harpswell, four miles away. Just after they set out, a thick fog settled onto the bay, cutting visibility sharply, disorienting them and eventually forcing the group to seek land.
