Kevin Kimball, a longtime performer and past president of the Maine Blues Society, is fond of dropping into Bray's Brew Pub in Naples to talk blues with Mike Bray, the owner and a fellow blues fan. Inevitably, they realized the Lakes Region doesn't have a big blues festival, said Bray, and began planning for one.

"There's the North Atlantic Blues Festival (in Rockland), and a lot of nationwide acts come there. We had some great times there, but we were looking at something to be more local," said Bray, who regularly has local blues bands play at his pub.
