Biw Workers to Receive Mariner of the Year Honor

Summary


The Maine Maritime Museum will depart from its normal practice of recognizing an individual with its Mariner of the Year award and will honor Bath Iron Works employees for their work building Arleigh Burke-class destroyers for the Navy.

The museum announced the award last week, citing BIW's ability to produce ships on time and at competitive costs. Together, BIW workers and the museum honor the 400-year tradition of shipbuilding in Maine, sharing the Kennebec River waterfront.
