TD Banknorth's acquisition of New Jersey-based Interchange Financial Services Corp. will lead to some additional jobs for Maine, though it's too early to say exactly how many, TD Banknorth Chief Executive Officer Bill Ryan said Friday.

Banknorth has made 27 acquisitions in the last 12 to 14 years, Ryan said. As in past acquisitions, Ryan said, Interchange's back- office work will be moved to either Lewiston or Falmouth. An exact number of jobs should be known in the next few months, Ryan said.
