For anyone on the planet who wasn't Greek, this was the Olympics that almost wasn't. Yet it turns out the world should have taken the advice of the hosts and not have worried about all that was left to the last minute. This Olympics, save for a few glitches, was a huge success.
In this age of terrorism, that success is measured first by what didn't happen. These games were the most guarded in history, with the cost of security exceeding $1 billion.
